Welcome Cohort of 2014

The MGSE as well as the whole Department of Economics gives a warm Welcome to our new doctoral students of the GRK 1928. We are glad that once again we have been able to attract so many great and outstanding young researchers and wish them all the best for the coming years at our faculty.
The three-day festivities were opened by MGSE and GRK representatives’ personal welcome words. The first and second day were also enlivened by former and current MGSE students, which gave useful insights to our newcomers.
A guided tour through the charming university quarter of Schwabing helped our new students which came from different international backgrounds to acclimatize to their new working environment.
We were able to hold the opening ceremony in the solemn atmosphere of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, including a compelling welcome lecture on “Self-Control and Personal Paternalism” by Professor David Laibson from Harvard University.
An informal hiking trip from Schliersee to Tegernsee gave our newcomers the possibility to become better acquainted to each other.
We are sure our excellent students will enlighten us with fascinating research and enrich our departmental life.
